Role Description

As an Innovation Writing Specialist Intern within SkyIT’s proposal team, you will transform complex technical concepts into compelling, strategically structured narratives that resonate with government and international evaluators. Supporting proposals tied to advanced fleet intelligence platforms, and enterprise asset management solutions, you will ensure clarity, cohesion, and persuasive strength across all submission materials. You will develop executive summaries, craft win themes and value propositions, refine technical content for evaluator scoring alignment, and maintain stylistic consistency across large-scale proposals. This internship offers advanced writing and rhetoric-focused graduate students the opportunity to apply persuasive communication theory within high-stakes, real-world funding competitions.

This program has been an incredibly valuable and enriching experience, offering hands-on exposure and real-world insights that are rarely available at this stage. One of the most unique aspects is the opportunity to be mentored directly by the CEO, gaining firsthand guidance, strategic perspective, and leadership insights that are invaluable for long-term growth. Importantly, this is the final session in which the program will be conducted, making it a truly exclusive opportunity that will not be repeated in the future. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop compelling executive summaries, win themes, and value propositions for fleet management and asset management RFP submissions.
  • Translate complex technical concepts (fleet analytics and asset management platforms) into clear, persuasive narratives.
  • Structure and edit large-scale proposal documents for clarity, cohesion, and scoring alignment.
  • Ensure consistency in tone, messaging, and formatting across all proposal sections.
  • Collaborate with technical, legal, and financial teams to integrate subject matter expertise into strong evaluative narratives.
  • Refine content to meet strict page limits, compliance requirements, and submission deadlines.

Required Qualifications 

  • Masters degree in Professional Writing, English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
  • Demonstrated strength in persuasive, analytical, or technical writing.
  • Exceptional editing skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to simplify complex technical information for diverse audiences.
  • Experience producing structured, long-form documents under deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate-level coursework (MA/MFA) in Writing, Rhetoric, Communications, or related discipline.
  • Experience working with evaluation criteria or scoring rubrics.
  • Familiarity with technology, fleet management, or enterprise software solutions.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional or technical teams.

 

 


 

Internship Details:

This program offers a valuable opportunity to develop expertise in identifying grant opportunities, crafting compelling proposals, and navigating complex funding guidelines within a dynamic technology environment. Overall, this opportunity equips students with practical experience and personalized guidance to navigate professional environments with confidence.

  • The minimum internship duration is 3 months and minimum working hours per week is 20 hours.
  • This is an unpaid internship.
  • All applicants MUST be a university senior or above.
  • We are a Canadian-based company.
  • All positions are remote.
  • We require mandatory meeting availability (depending on your role).
  • Work hours are based in MST (Mountain Standard Time).
