Grounds Team Member

Kentucky Country Day School is currently seeking a Grounds Team Member. The Grounds Team Member serves in a multi-purpose role, responsible for performing a wide range of daily maintenance and operational tasks primarily on grounds and athletic fields. Other duties related to Facilities and Maintenance to be determined by supervisor. This is a full-time 12 month position.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working knowledge of equipment and practices necessary to maintain natural grass, synthetic fields and other surfaces/courts (e.g., mowing, fertilizing, aeration, irrigation, field lining).
  • Safely operate, and maintain all groundskeeping equipment and tools, including mowing, fertilization, aeration, irrigation, and field repair equipment.
  • Maintain all storage areas, maintenance buildings, and other grounds-related workspaces in a clean, organized, and safe conditions.
  • Maintain school grounds - Regularly clean outside building entries and general trash pick-up throughout campus including athletic fields, parking lots, playgrounds, etc.
  • Weed, mulch, seed, mow, trim trees and bushes, and water plants.
  • Assist with campus setup, breakdown, and preparation for training sessions, matches/games, and events (inside and out) as required.
  • Snow/Ice removal (e.g., shoveling, salting, and plowing) (seasonal).
  • Perform maintenance and custodial duties (e.g., cleaning, emptying trash, painting, etc)
  • Attend professional development training and faculty meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working on sports fields or equivalent experience preferred
  • Basic maintenance experience.
  • Dependability and commitment.
  • Commitment to continual development of one’s cultural competence.

 

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be physically able to operate power equipment weighing 50 to 80lbs.
  • Ability to work outside in hot or cold conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work in a wide variety of environments as found in all areas of the school.
  • This position may require significant lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, kneeling, etc.
  • Ability to move around the campus quickly, as needed.
