Field Study Student Assistant
Approximate Hours per week: 10-15
Position Type: Hybrid Work Study
Location: Social Ecology I (In-person, remote shifts available during the academic year)
Compensation: $16.90 per hour
Description:
The Field Study Program is seeking to hire two students to serve as Student Assistants. In this role, they will primarily support the delivery of essential student advising, community partner engagement, and administrative services. Each student staff member will contribute to two distinct functional areas.
Student-Facing (Advising & Data Management): Assist with advising services (appointments and chat), respond to student correspondence, and deliver student-focused workshops and presentations. They also support database management related to student-facing programs and contribute to marketing efforts for student-specific materials.
Community Partner Support + Special Programs (Administrative, Communications & Data Management): Help maintain the Field Study catalog, manage databases, and assist with partner communications. This role also supports special programs and strategic marketing efforts, including social media content and report preparation.
Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for students to work closely with Field Study and Undergraduate Student Advising staff while developing a broad, practical skill set applicable to graduate study and a wide range of careers.
We are looking for a student who can commit through the end of Spring 2027 (with the possibility of working over the summer)
Minimum Qualifications:
- Major within the School of Social Ecology
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word (experience with Microsoft Access highly preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of Google Docs, Sheets and Slides
- 3.5+ overall GPA
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Familiarity with working in an office environment
- Empathetic to students from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to routinely work independently on assignments, seeking assistance and clarification when needed
- Ability to follow through with assignments on tight deadlines
- Receptive to constructive criticism
- Access to a secure and reliable internet connection
- Access to a secure and reliable laptop or desktop
- Minimum 3-quarter commitment
Preferred Qualifications
- Work-study eligible
- Previous experience supporting students in a peer educator/mentor capacity
- Previous experience with Canva.com
- Previous experience with social media management
- Previous experience with graphic design or website design
