HS Math Teacher

HS Math Teacher The Mathematics Teacher inspires students to think critically, reason logically, and solve problems creatively. Through engaging, concept-based instruction, the teacher develops students’ understanding of mathematical principles and their real-world applications. The role emphasizes differentiated instruction, inquiry-based learning, and the integration of technology to foster confidence and a growth mindset in mathematics.

Key Responsibilities: Deliver high-quality instruction aligned with ASFM’s math curriculum and international standards. Design lessons that promote conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and mathematical reasoning. Use diverse assessment strategies to monitor and support student growth. Encourage collaborative problem-solving, perseverance, and intellectual curiosity. Integrate real-life contexts and digital tools to make mathematics meaningful and relevant. Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons aligned with ASFM’s curriculum frameworks and grade-level learning outcomes. Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment where students feel safe to explore ideas, ask questions, and take academic risks. Use a variety of teaching strategies and assessment tools to meet diverse learning needs and monitor student progress. Integrate technology and innovative practices to enhance instruction and student engagement. Differentiate learning experiences to challenge and support students at all ability levels. Collaborate with department colleagues and interdisciplinary teams to design coherent learning experiences across subjects and grade levels. Communicate regularly and effectively with parents, students, and colleagues about learning goals and academic progress.. Maintain accurate records of student work, attendance, and grades in accordance with school policies. Participate in school events, assemblies, and professional learning communities. Model ASFM’s values of respect, responsibility, perseverance, compassion, and integrity in all professional interactions. Supervise students during assigned duties (e.g., advisory, recess, or school activities).

Qualifications & Experience: 

Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field. Valid teaching certification in Mathematics. Proven ability to differentiate instruction across grade levels. Strong communication and organizational skills. Commitment to ASFM’s values of respect, responsibility, perseverance, compassion and integrity. Strong knowledge of current pedagogy and assessment practices in the assigned subject. Experience with standards-based grading, inquiry-based learning, or interdisciplinary teaching approaches is preferred. Demonstrated ability to integrate digital tools and technology to support learning. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. English fluency required; Spanish proficiency is an asset.
