Teach Culinary Arts at NYC Public Schools

Compensation and Benefits

  • NYC Public Schools offers competitive starting salaries based on education and years of teaching experience. The starting salary for a teacher with a master’s degree and no prior teaching experience is currently $77,455, or $68,902 for a teacher with a bachelor's degree and no previous teaching experience. On September 14, 2026, these salaries will increase to $80,166 and $71,314, respectively.
  • Teachers with prior teaching experience may initiate a compensation review process after they begin teaching that considers levels of education, degrees, and years of full-time teaching experience. Requirements

Candidates must meet the following requirements to teach at NYC Public Schools:

  • Possess or be on track to earn New York State teacher certification by September 1, 2026
  • Be authorized to work in the United States
