Why the Bank On Int! Summer Intern Program?

Bank on Int! is a collaborative between the City of Edinburg, Edinburg EDC, and The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley that partners with regional banks across the Rio Grande Valley to offer post-secondary students pursuing business or related degrees hands-on training and valuable work experience in the banking industry. Our internships are the perfect introduction to the world of financial services. You’ll be immersed in your chosen business area, learning from banking experts and taking on real business challenges.

The program's mission is to support students in defining and achieving their career and educational aspirations. By exposing participants to career pathways in the banking industry and connecting them with employment opportunities, Bank on Int! equips students with the skills and experience needed for success in their postgraduate and professional journeys.

Over the course of 10 weeks, you'll build connections, expand your skill set, and explore new opportunities for growth. This internship is designed for students in their junior or senior year of college, offering a transformative experience that sets the stage for a successful career.

STUDENT QUALIFICATIONS

Students will complete application for consideration of positions but will need to meet specific criteria to qualify. Criteria below.

  • Must be a degree seeking undergraduate student at UTRGV.
  • Must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in business at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley with junior or senior standing and approval from both the department chair and the employing organization providing internship experience.
  • Must enroll in the Finance internship course (FINA 3300 for Summer III).
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
    • International students may be considered if employers are willing to hire candidates that are temporarily authorized to work for a defined period in their field of study (e.g., for a job/internship under OPT/CPT)

Responsibilities

  • Select your desired business area for an in-depth introduction, taking on immediate responsibility guided by a mentor and line manager
  • Forge connections, explore new horizons, and unlock growth opportunities in this 10-week internship journey
  • Advising a broad range of corporate clients, you’ll deliver holistic, structured solutions that help our clients deliver on their goals; whether that’s through mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, structured solutions or risk management
  • As a member of one of our industry, product or geographic groups, you’ll work on live deals and deal proposals
  • Developing written materials, including offering memoranda and new business presentations
  • To participate in the day-to-day activities of the investment banking division
  • Gain broad exposure to different type of clients, transactions and focus on specialist areas
  • Collaboration on live deals, client pitches, support the team with advising on a broad range of corporate clients, delivering holistic, structured solutions to deliver on client goals

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data to make informed marketing decisions.
  • Detail-oriented and well-organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Must submit a resume.
  • Submit a one-page personal statement explaining why you wish to be part of this internship.
