The Accessibility Support Student Assistant helps improve the accessibility of digital materials used across the university. This role supports caption editing, document structure improvements, and general accessibility quality review under the guidance of the Accessibility team.

Student assistants work within an IT ticketing system to complete clearly defined tasks and prepare materials for final review. Training is provided.

This position is ideal for students who are detail-oriented, interested in digital content, and want hands-on experience working in a structured IT environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and improve digital content for accessibility
  • Edit captions and improve document structure
  • Add alternative text to images and correct formatting issues
  • Use accessibility checkers and follow task-specific checklists
  • Document completed work clearly within a ticketing system
  • Escalate complex issues appropriately

Qualifications

Required

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Clear written communication skills
  • Ability to follow structured processes
  • Comfortable learning new tools and software
  • Ability to manage time and work independently
  • Enrollment in at least 6 credits at UNLV and minimum 2.0 GPA

Preferred

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, Adobe products
  • Experience with captions, transcripts, or digital media
  • Interest in accessibility, digital inclusion, or user experience
  • Experience working in customer service or technical environments
