 Communications Intern

 

Project Overview:

Capital Resource Conservation and Development Area Council (Capital RC&D) seeks a communications intern to support staff and a communications consultant in the development of an agricultural conservation outreach plan that will spread news about conservation program opportunities being offered by Capital RC&D and other regional conservation partners. 

 

Communications Intern duties and responsibilities:

The intern will be focused on developing an outreach campaign to promote the wise use and conservation of natural resources in our region's agricultural communities.  In addition, there may be broader outreach to the general population to create appreciation for the benefits of ag conservation work.   The campaign will focus outreach in three counties - Dauphin, Lancaster, and Lebanon.  The additional broader communication project will cover our entire seven county region.  The grant also funds contracting with a communications consultant, thus the intern will work with both our staff as well as a contracted professional.


Communications intern work schedule:

Spring 2026 – Fall 2026 

This is temporary position, working on average, 20 hours per week for approximately 14 weeks. Actual time may vary with consideration that most of the work will be accomplished by September 30, 2026. The position requires both in-office (Carlisle, PA) and remotely based work.

 

Communications intern required skills and knowledge:

• Must be proficient using Microsoft Office and design software such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator or similar products.

• Must be familiar with both print and social media tools

• Performs work with attention to detail

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to work as a member of a team, independently, and with direct supervision

• Must possess a valid driver’s license and have use of a motor vehicle

Communications intern compensation:

The schedule of work will be coordinated through Capital RC&D, located in Carlisle, PA. Travel to work required at locations other than the main office in Carlisle, PA is reimbursable for time and mileage at the Federal mileage rate.

Hourly wage is $25/hour.
