Front Desk & Play Space Support Staff

Front Desk & Play Space Support Staff (Part-Time, Flexible)

Chelsea Forest Play (CFP) | Chelsea, NYC

Chelsea Forest Play (CFP) is a warm, thoughtfully designed indoor play space for young children and their caregivers. We focus on open-ended play, movement, and connection in a calm, inclusive environment. Our space hosts timed open play sessions, small group classes, and occasional birthday celebrations.

We’re looking for friendly, reliable support staff to help with front desk coverage, daily flow of the space, and occasional weekend birthday parties. This role is highly flexible, and we’re open to hiring one or multiple people depending on fit and availability.

Schedule & Flexibility

This is a part-time role with flexible hours. We’re happy to work with your schedule.

Possible weekday shifts:

  • 9:30am – 4:30pm
  • Morning or afternoon shifts (roughly 4 hours)
  • Split shifts are also possible

Weekend availability (optional but a plus):

  • Morning or afternoon shifts (roughly 4 hours)
  • Occasional birthday party support
  • Not required, but appreciated

What we’re looking for overall:

Ideal availability:

  • Morning availability during the week
  • Thursdays are especially helpful. All-day availability on Thursdays is a big plus
  • Other weekdays offer more flexibility
  • Training begins immediately

If you’re looking for just a few hours a week, something more consistent Monday–Friday, or weekend shifts, we’re open to all — we care most about finding the right fit.

Responsibilities

  • Greet families and caregivers warmly as they arrive
  • Check children in and out of timed open play sessions
  • Answer phones and help with basic scheduling questions
  • Assist with the flow of entrance and exit between sessions
  • Light cleaning and sanitizing between play sessions
  • Reset and organize toys throughout the day
  • Support birthday parties with simple set-up help, transitions, and general assistance
  • Help maintain a calm, welcoming, and respectful environment
  • Add small moments of joy — blowing bubbles, handing out stickers, helping children leave with a smile

Who This Role Is Great For

  • Someone friendly, personable, and comfortable talking with parents and caregivers
  • Organized and proactive — you notice what needs to be done and jump in
  • Calm, patient, and flexible in a kid-centered environment
  • Comfortable being on your feet and moving around the space
  • Front desk or customer-facing experience required
  • Experience with children, education, childcare, or family-facing roles is a plus (but not required)

Why Work at Chelsea Forest Play

  • Supportive, kind, and collaborative team
  • Beautiful, thoughtfully designed space
  • Calm, joyful environment (not chaotic or overstimulating)
  • Meaningful work supporting young children and families
  • Great fit for students, educators, caregivers, or anyone who enjoys working with kids in a warm setting

If this sounds like a place you’d enjoy spending your time — whether for a few hours a week or a more consistent schedule — we’d love to hear from you.
