Youth Robotics Instructor

Youth Robotics Instructor (Part-Time)

Location: Various school sites across San Diego County
Position Type: Part-Time (Summer Camps & Afterschool Enrichment)

Position Overview

The League of Amazing Programmers is seeking enthusiastic, reliable, and tech-savvy individuals to join our team as Youth Robotics Instructors. This part-time role involves teaching hands-on robotics classes and summer camps for students in grades 2 through 8 at various school and camp locations throughout San Diego County.

This is an ideal position for college students, aspiring educators, STEM enthusiasts, or anyone who enjoys working with kids and technology. Prior robotics experience is a plus, but not required—we provide training and curriculum.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engaging, hands-on robotics classes for elementary and middle school students
  • Follow provided lesson plans and curriculum
  • Create a positive, supportive, and fun learning environment
  • Help students build, program, and troubleshoot robotics projects
  • Manage classroom behavior and ensure student safety
  • Set up and pack up equipment before and after classes
  • Communicate professionally with staff, school partners, and parents

 

 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Enjoy working with children (grades 2–8)
  • Comfortable learning and using new technology
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel to various locations within San Diego County

Preferred (but not required):

  • Experience teaching, tutoring, coaching, or working with youth
  • Experience with robotics, coding, or STEM activities
  • Background in education, computer science, engineering, or related field

 

 

Schedule & Commitment

  • Part-time, hourly position
  • Hours vary based on program schedule
  • Available shifts include:
    • Summer weekday camps (morning and/or afternoon)
    • Afterschool classes (typically between 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM)
    • Weekend days and possible evenings
  • Locations vary throughout San Diego County
