Web Design and Visual Content Internship Opportunity at Advisory Council on Historic Preservation

Are you interested in exploring preservation-related careers and developing professional skills? Intern with the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP), an independent federal agency in Washington, DC. The ACHP oversees the historic preservation review process for federal projects and advises the President and Congress on historic preservation. Interns make significant contributions to the ACHP’s work while gaining valuable experience and insight into the national preservation program.

The ACHP is now accepting applications for a full-time summer 2026 Web Design and Visual Content Intern. The candidate must be enrolled full-time at an accredited HBCU and must possess excellent communications skills and knowledge of website design, management, content creation, graphic design, and Microsoft Office Suite.

The intern will be working with the Offices of Federal Agency Programs (OFAP) and External Engagement (OEE) on two projects:

The intern will work with OFAP staff to refresh its core curriculum of Section 106 Classroom Trainings. The internship scope will include an overhaul of the course’s visual content, to include presentation slides, attendee materials, and course handouts. The goal of this effort is to integrate existing training content into an engaging graphic product, consistent with the ACHP’s branding and existing presentation templates. The intern will collaborate with OFAP staff to develop and iterate these training materials, with thoughtful consideration for both the instructor and student experiences.

The intern also will work with OEE to review the ACHP’s website and identify dead links and unnecessary and outdated pages, recommend changes to improve user experience, and assist with updates.

The position is full-time for 10 weeks, with a salary of $20 per hour. The internship duties can be performed either in-person in our office at 401 F St. NW, Washington, DC, or hybrid. Undergraduate and graduate students may apply. Funding for this internship is generously supplied by the ACHP Foundation.

Fill out the application at this link. In addition, to complete your application, you MUST email your resume to internships@achp.gov. The deadline to submit both the application form and your resume is Monday, March 23, 2026.
