In this role, you will provide accurate English and Spanish interpretation and translation services, support clinical teams, promote language access best practices, and help eliminate communication barriers that impact health outcomes. You’ll also represent Lee Health at community events, extending compassionate care beyond our walls.

Requirements
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate or bachelors degree preferred.
Experience: Experience in the health field and in interpretation for medical personnel preferred. A minimum of 2 (two) years speaking English and the other language source. Successful completion of a formal program in medical interpreting and translation with medical interpretation certificate is required.
Certification: Certified Medical Interpreter (CMI-CCHI), or National Certified Medical Interpreter (NCMI-NBCMI, or equivalent nationally recognized medical interpreter certification
Skills & Competencies:
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English and the designated target language
- Strong verbal and written interpretation and translation skills
- Ability to accurately translate written medical and rehabilitative documents as needed
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Understanding of cultural differences and their impact on care delivery
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with patients, families, and healthcare teams
- Sound judgment and ability to manage ethical situations professionally
- Critical thinking and decision-making skills
- Ability to manage caseload, prioritize tasks, and work independently
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet applications
- Comfortable working in acute and emergency care environments, including life-threatening and end-of-life situations
- Flexible and able to travel between patient care areas and off-site facilities as needed
- Able to sustain a busy and adaptable work schedule
