Accounting Internship
Peaches and Cream Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing services, resources, and mental wellness support to underserved youth while empowering college students and military families nationwide and internationally. Our mission includes:
- Ending child poverty by ensuring financial security and educational opportunities
- Supporting military families through housing, career development, and claims assistance
- Expanding economic research to drive policy changes benefiting veterans and youth
- Enhancing mental wellness initiatives to support veterans, families, and students in overcoming financial and emotional challenges
- Providing college students with hands-on experience in accounting and business finance, mentoring from experienced professionals, and workforce development skills to prepare for future careers
Interns will receive IRS training and certification as VITA tax preparers and gain practical experience in:
- Tax preparation and compliance
- Budgeting and financial literacy
- Profit and loss analysis
- Small business finance and accounting practices
- Understanding and applying tax laws
This internship is supervised by experienced staff and includes evaluations to support academic credit requirements.
Time Commitment
- Interns can expect to work 10 hours per week or less, depending on academic requirements
- Flexible scheduling: We will work with your schedule to accommodate academic commitments
- Remote position with flexibility to support student needs
- Typical duration: 3–4 months for a meaningful experience
- Upon completion, interns may continue their internship or volunteer with the organization

Roles & Responsibilities
- Complete IRS training to become a certified VITA tax preparer
- Assist with preparing and reviewing tax returns under supervision
- Apply accounting and finance principles to real-world scenarios
- Support clients with budgeting and profit/loss management
- Research and apply basic tax laws relevant to individuals and small businesses
- Participate in community outreach to promote financial education
- Engage in mentoring and workforce development activities
Qualifications
- College students majoring in Accounting, Business, Finance, or Law
- Strong interest in tax law, accounting, or nonprofit financial management
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills; bilingual applicants encouraged (Spanish/English or other languages)
- Commitment to professional development and community service
