Location: Remote (Mohawk Valley / Central NY preferred but not required)

About This Opportunity
Cyborg Interactive is seeking a contract Game Developer to help build and refine original indie titles currently in development. This role is ideal for a technically capable developer who wants real ownership, meaningful impact, and participation in a game’s long-term success.
This is not a “task factory” role. You will contribute to core systems, gameplay mechanics, and technical direction.
Responsibilities
- Implement gameplay systems in Godot (GDScript)
- Work with design specs and contribute to refining them
- Build and iterate on player mechanics, AI behaviors, UI, and systems
- Debug and optimize performance (desktop and mobile)
- Collaborate with designer, artist, and other contributors
- Participate in structured sprint cycles
Ideal Candidate
- Experience shipping or substantially contributing to at least one game
- Proficiency with Godot 4.x
- Strong understanding of 2D systems (physics, animation, input, state machines)
- Comfort working independently with clear deliverables
- Ability to read and improve existing codebases
- Understanding of performance constraints for mobile
Bonus
- Experience with procedural generation
- AI/behavior systems
- Version control (Git)
- Experience with Android/iOS exports
Compensation Structure
- Fixed monthly stipend for a 4-month contract term, determined by scope and experience.
- Royalty participation (limited percentage of project net profits)
- Royalty vesting over time and/or milestones
- Contractor status (not employment)
- No guaranteed salary
