Kids Give Back is seeking a Teaching Intern to manage programming at Summer Volunteer Camp, Kids Volunteer Days, special events, weekly service projects at a local club, and more.
The intern will work in a teaching capacity and gain valuable insight into the workings of a small nonprofit organization, and will be one of two teachers who lead the following programs:
- June 22-26, Summer Volunteer Camp, 8:00 am-3:30 pm*
- June 29-July 1, Summer Volunteer Mini-Camp, 8:00 am - 1:30 pm, Ayr Hill Church, Vienna
- July 6-10, Summer Volunteer Camp, 8:00 am-3:30 pm*
- July 13-17, Summer Volunteer Camp, 8:00 am-1:30 pm, Oakton United Methodist Church
- July 20-24, Summer Volunteer Camp, 8:00 am-1:00 pm*
- June 22-July 31, weekly volunteer projects at River Bend Country Club in Great Falls
- Various dates: staffing a Kids Give Back booth and leading a volunteer project at Wolf Trap and local festivals.

Each camp will include volunteer service projects, guest speakers from local nonprofits, free play, and time for reflection and discussion about what it means to volunteer and give back to the community.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervises, with another teacher, up to 24 children, ages 6-12.
- Supervises the implementation of all volunteer service projects, which will be planned and organized by the Kids Give Back program coordinator. Project directions and supplies will be provided by Kids Give Back.
- Maintains order throughout the day by organizing children into teams, monitoring their behavior, and ensuring they respect volunteer service projects, guest speakers, and the properties where the camps are held.
- Checks the children in and out of camp, ensuring that they are signed out by individuals authorized by their parents.
- Creates an environment that is conducive to learning and volunteer service.
- Works closely with teenage volunteers to manage the volunteer service projects and camp attendees.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintains a safe environment for the children.
- Provides First Aid as needed.
- Remains onsite until every camp attendee and teen volunteer has been picked up by an adult.
- Cleans up and organizes the camp facility throughout the week, leaving it in good condition.
- Attends a planning meeting before each service day or camp.
- Provides a debrief to the Kids Give Back staff after each camp with observations and recommendations.
