Elementary Classroom Teacher

Rowlett Academy seeks dedicated and student-centered Elementary Classroom Teachers to provide high-quality, standards-aligned instruction that supports the academic, social, and emotional development of all students.

The Elementary Teacher fosters a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment where students are encouraged to think critically, collaborate effectively, and develop strong character in an arts-integrated environment. The ideal candidate embraces the mission of Rowlett Academy, maintains high expectations for student achievement, and builds strong partnerships with families and colleagues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Elementary Education or related field
  • Valid Florida Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education (K–6)/eligibility certificate
  • ESOL endorsement or willingness to obtain 
  • Reading endorsement or willingness to obtain 
  • Minimum of 1–3 years of successful teaching experience preferred
  • Have or acquire two-day 7 Habits Training

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of child development and elementary instructional practices
  • Knowledge of Florida State Standards
  • Ability to design engaging, differentiated instruction
  • Effective classroom management and positive behavior support strategies
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Proficiency in a variety of educational technologies
  • Ability to analyze student data to inform instruction
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment

 

Essential Responsibilities

Instruction & Curriculum

  • Plan and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction in core academic subjects
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners
  • Implement evidence-based literacy and math strategies
  • Utilize formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams to ensure curriculum alignment and pacing

Classroom Environment & Student Development

  • Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, and engaging classroom climate using the 7 Habits
  • Promote positive behavior and social-emotional development
  • Foster critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration
  • Build strong relationships with students to support academic growth and character development

Student Support & Collaboration

  • Participate in MTSS, 504, IEP, and Student Support Team meetings as required
  • Implement accommodations and interventions to support diverse learners
  • Communicate proactively and consistently with families regarding student progress
  • Collaborate with support staff, specialists, and administration

School Culture & Professional Responsibilities

  • Promote and uphold the mission and values of Rowlett Academy
  • Model professionalism, integrity, and high ethical standards

  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school initiatives
  • Support school events, activities, and community engagement efforts
  • Engage in continuous professional learning
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of Rowlett Academy

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and move throughout the classroom for extended periods
  • Ability to move from building to building on the campus
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to speak and hear clearly for communication
  • Ability to use both gross and fine motor skills for use with instructional materials
  • Ability to supervise students in classroom, playground, and school settings
