ESOL Teacher Aide
Rowlett Academy seeks a dedicated ESOL Aide to support English Language Learners (ELLs) in developing English language proficiency and achieving academic success.
The ESOL Aide works under the supervision of the ESOL Teacher to provide small-group instruction, reinforce language skills, and assist with classroom activities. The ideal candidate is patient, organized, culturally responsive, and committed to helping students thrive academically and socially.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required
- Experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred
- Knowledge of English language development and basic instructional strategies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with teachers and staff
- Familiarity with technology used in classrooms preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to support English Language Learners in reading, writing, listening, and speaking
- Patience and cultural sensitivity when working with diverse student populations
- Ability to assist with classroom management and maintain a safe, positive learning environment
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work effectively in small groups or one-on-one settings
Essential Responsibilities
Instructional Support
- Assist ESOL Teacher with lesson preparation and classroom activities
- Provide individualized or small-group support for ELL students
- Reinforce language skills, vocabulary, and academic content
- Help students with assignments, reading, and comprehension
- Monitor and report student progress to the ESOL Teacher
Classroom & Student Support
- Support a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
- Assist with transitions, classroom routines, and supervision during activities
- Help maintain records, files, and instructional materials
- Encourage student engagement, participation, and independence
Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with the ESOL Teacher, classroom teachers, and support staff
- Communicate effectively with teachers, students, and families when appropriate
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and training sessions as required

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and assist students throughout the school day
- Ability to lift and move instructional materials up to 25 lbs occasionally
- Ability to supervise students in classroom and school settings
