Johnson & Martin, P.A. is a boutique law firm with world-class capabilities in transactional law, intellectual property law, and litigation throughout the United States and abroad. We are currently seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Legal Assistant.
SUMMARY: You will work directly with attorneys and staff in the intellectual property team and will be responsible for performing a number of legal assistant and other administrative duties. This position requires strong attention to detail and impeccable professionalism. You are right for this position if you are a self-motivated, quick-thinking, tech-savvy, and proactive individual.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Provide direct support to intellectual property attorneys, which includes preparing and sending client communications, preparing and filing documents with the intellectual property offices, managing and updating the firm’s docket, and liaising with the firm’s foreign associates.
- Assist with delivering invoices to clients and arranging payment of invoices
- Assist with scheduling attorney meetings and attorney calendars
- Provide back-up assistance to other administrative team members as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- 2+ years of experience in a legal support role or other administrative assistant role preferred.
- Demonstrates professional manner, as well as high level of interpersonal skills to handle time-sensitive, confidential and stressful situations in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent customer service skills, written and verbal communication, planning and organizational skills.
- Makes effective decisions with minimal supervision and information.
- Expert problem-solver, solution and team-oriented and works collaboratively to achieve team goals.
- Takes initiative and pursues opportunities for improving efficiency. Quick learner who can develop skills rapidly.
- Strong multi-tasking skills. Complete several concurrent tasks.
- Manages time effectively, exercises good judgment in setting priorities to complete tasks to meet deadlines with strong attention to detail and ability to balance and maintain workload.
- Ability to anticipate the needs of team members.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required; experience with intellectual property docketing software preferred.
Compensation will be based on the candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the position.
