Education and Outreach Intern
Overview: The Education and Outreach Intern will help to plan and execute events, create education materials, and assist with on-the-ground projects as needed. Additionally, they will help manage FBSR's marketing and outreach materials. The position will work closely with the Education and Outreach Manager and Executive Director. Training is provided.
Compensation: 40 hours/week at $19/hour; Mileage and supply reimbursement for water testing
Hours and Schedule: Limited-term, full-time, non-exempt position; generally, Monday-Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, some Saturdays and evenings may be required for special events
Timeframe: May through August, with potential for extension based on need and funding
Location: FBSR Office in Sioux Falls; Hybrid Work Potential
Responsibilities

Events and Education
- Help plan, coordinate, and execute events
- Develop new education materials
- Teach and work with kids at a variety of summer camps

Outreach
- Help implement digital marketing strategy
- Help update and maintain the website
- Support fundraising initiatives
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- A passion for conservation and water quality
- Strong communication and writing skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with people of all ages
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Canva
- Access to a personal vehicle is required
Friends of the Big Sioux River seeks applicants who have recently completed their bachelor’s degree or who are current part-time or full-time students at a college, university, or technical institute. All applicants must be eligible to work in the United States at the time they apply and have a valid driver’s license. The applicant must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
