Agricultural Technician

STE Limited - Agricultural Technician - UC Rice Weed Program

We are seeking three to four (3-4) Ag Technicians to assist in conducting rice herbicide research trials at the Rice Experiment Station in Biggs, Ca. You will be employed by UC Davis. This position is also available for internship credit.

Technicians will assist in the set-up of small-plot experimental trials, field maintenance, herbicide preparation and applications, as well as data collection. This position also includes: greenhouse work, site maintenance, and data entry.

There is also the possibility of extending position into fall/winter to assist with greenhouse screenings.

At times the job can be physically demanding, and you will be working outside 60-70% of the time. All necessary PPE, shade, water and hip waders will be provided. Applicants will need a valid Driver's license to use program vehicles.

This is a great learning experience for students working toward an agricultural degree! On-the-job training includes: rice production, sprayer calibration, chemical mixing/loading/application, experimental design, treatment effects analysis, troubleshooting, and use of some machinery.

The pay rate is determined by the University of California, and ranges from $21.85 - $22.74/ hour based on work experience and level of education.
