Boys & Girls Club Summer Internship

Title: Internship for Summer 2026 (June-August) 

Reports To: Club Director and Assistant Club Directors 

PRIMARY FUNCTION 

  • Inspire and motivate youth daily with positive, consistent guidance that makes the Club a fun place to be 
  • Keep kids safe and happy by setting clear boundaries and sharing Club rules in a kind, supportive way 
  • Lead a program fueled by your passions, with plenty of support from our team 
  • Take kids on local field trips and off-site adventures that create unforgettable memories
  • Jump in for staff meetings, special programs, and Club events whenever needed  
  • Speak up about any concerns with members, families, staff, or facilities so we can keep everything running smoothly 
  • Help out with daily Club duties like closing, clean-up, and keeping things running like clockwork 

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • Enrollment in a post-secondary program: Education, Early Childhood, Parks & Recreation Management, Psychology or Related Field
  • Share ideas clearly and confidently, both in conversation and in writing 
  • Create and maintain a safe environment for young people 
  • Ability to pass a background check 
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high sensory environment 
  • MUST demonstrate a passion for working with children
  • This role requires the ability to build meaningful connections with children

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE PREFERRED 

  • Experience working with youth ages 6 - 14 from diverse backgrounds 
  • Ability to motivate youth and manage social, emotional and behaviors  
  • Valid State Driver’s License 

 

BENEFITS

  • 40 hours per week at $18 - $20/hour (bi – weekly pay) 
  • Free housing provided for 10 weeks (May 30 - August 10) with access to the FREE city bus
  • Up to $1000 End-of-Summer bonus on final paycheck based on 8 full weeks of work and 1 week of training (9 total weeks)
  • Consistent mentorship by Club management staff 
  • CPR Certification and over 20 hours of youth development training  
  • Classroom Management, Group Dynamics, Trauma Informed Care and Positive Youth Development skills training, STEM, Physical Education, Art, Tutoring and Teen Program Development 
  • Live in beautiful Steamboat Springs for a summer with access to hiking, biking and the Yampa River

SCHEDULE

  • Mandatory Staff Training, June 1 - 5
  • Summer Camp Work Experience in Action: June 8 - August 7 (time off June 28 - July 4)
  • 8 hour work day, 5 days per week
