Reports To: Senior Graphic Designer
Location: Uptown Phoenix, AZ (Remote available)
Hours: Up to 20 hours per week
Hourly Pay: $16-18/hr

Internship description:
First Day, a full-service marketing and public relations firm based in Phoenix, is seeking a motivated and passionate Graphic Design Intern for Summer 2026. This is a paid, part-time internship position.
At First Day, we’re known for our prominent role in the K-12 education choice movement, cutting design, messaging, and branding, and our ability to communicate to and reach families. We serve some of the most innovative education advocate organizations, edutech companies, education service providers, and schools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Senior Graphic Designer and marketing team on real-world design projects to deliver high-quality, brand-consistent projects.
- Assist in creating visual assets for internal and client projects, including social media graphics, digital ads, flyers, and print collateral.
- Apply brand guidelines to ensure consistency across all visual communications.
- Translate creative direction and design needs into thoughtful concepts and execution.
- Incorporate feedback and creative direction to refine work and meet project objectives.
- Contribute ideas during team meetings and creative discussions to strengthen visual storytelling.
- Support the organization of design files and digital assets while developing professional workflow and time-management skills.
Internship Outcomes:
- Gain hands-on experience producing digital and print marketing materials for real-world projects.
- Develop a professional portfolio featuring real-world projects, including digital and print marketing materials.
- Learn end-to-end design project processes, including receiving creative direction, implementing revisions, applying brand guidelines, and producing high-quality deliverables.
- Strengthen collaboration, communication, and time management skills in a professional team environment.
- Gain a competitive advantage in your job hunt with First Day, K-12 providers, program implementers, and policy groups.
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a university program with a focus in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Web Design, or a design-related field.
- Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Canva.
- Working knowledge of core design principles, including layout, typography, color, and basic print production.
- Strong attention to detail with an organized approach to managing files, assets, and tasks.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, adapt to feedback, and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present ideas and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred but not required:
- Experience or interest in Adobe XD or other web design tools.
- A strong interest in school choice public policy.
