Job Description and Duties
The Student Assistant (Engineering and Architectural Sciences) assists the engineers and drafters with design, construction projects, and reports for the Structural Engineering Branch. The scope of responsibilities is formulated to suit the Student’s technical knowledge, skill, and long range goals, as well as the Department’s immediate workload requirements. The DWR provides a network of learning opportunities by working and coordinating with the Engineers on technical tasks, under the supervision of the Senior Engineer.

This is a Student Assistant (E&A) position, with a maximum of 1500 hours of work per 12 consecutive months. Proof of application for, or enrollment in, college curriculum preparing for upper division status in an engineering, architectural or landscape architectural curriculum leading to a bachelor’s or advanced degree is required.
All applicants for Student Assistant positions must meet the following departmental eligibility requirements:
- Enrolled in nine (9) semester/eight (8) quarter units for undergraduate students or six (6) semester/four (4) quarter units for graduate students.
- Achieved a 2.0 grade point average in the most recently completed academic term.
- Declared a major related to the duties of the advertised position and enrolled in coursework required for that major.
