Marketing Coordinator

Position Purpose
Under the direction of the Communication Director, this position develops and executes marketing, outreach, and community engagement strategies for City of Racine programs, services, and events. The Marketing Coordinator plays a key role in promoting citywide initiatives through creative storytelling, digital media, and community partnerships to increase awareness, participation, and resident satisfaction.

 

Essential Duties

  • Create, coordinate, and execute comprehensive marketing plans for City programs and events.
  • Coordinate layout and design of social media postings, newsletters, flyers, brochures, and other informational materials.
  • Maintain and update website content, ensuring alignment with City branding and voice.
  • Plan, implement, supervise, and evaluate citywide public events and campaigns in collaboration with all departments.
  • Assist the Communications Director in acting as a liaison between city departments and the public for communications and engagement efforts.
  • Track and analyze the effectiveness of marketing efforts and prepare reports for city leadership.
  • Provide support for city departments in developing promotional strategies for services, programs, and initiatives.
  • Assist with public inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate information is provided.
  • Serve in a supportive capacity to Communications Director and as a secondary point of contact for the department.
  • Support crisis communications as needed.
  • Support Communications Director with administrative tasks.


 

Working Conditions & Schedule
This position is fully in-person and may require evening and weekend hours as needed for events or public engagement activities.

 

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.

 

Preferred Qualification

  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in marketing, communications, or community engagement preferred.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Strong leadership qualities and ability to coordinate multiple projects.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to effectively engage the public.
  • Basic photography, graphic design, video, and visual arts skills.
  • Ability to create and post content to the website and social media.
  • Knowledge of modern marketing tools, including digital and social media platforms.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple city departments and external partners.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Handling politically sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy.

 

Physical Demand of the Position
Walking, sitting, standing, talking, hearing, reaching, carrying, lifting, pushing/pulling, writing, driving, grasping, bending, twisting, stress, etc. Withstand heat and cold while working in various environments with the public.


Environmental Conditions
Air-conditioned and non-air conditioned work areas. Exposure to heat and cold while working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Exposure to odors from cleaning products, floor strippers and waxes.

 

Equipment Used
Copy machine, telephone, postage meter, computer, fax machine, van and automobile, scissors and miscellaneous office equipment, cell phones and multi-channel two-way radios.
