Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and mechanically inclined individual to join our team as a Vehicle Assembly Technician at our Plymouth facility.
This is a hands-on role supporting the transition from prototype development into early-stage manufacturing of our low-floor bus platform. You will help assemble complete vehicle units from structural, mechanical, and electrical components while working closely with engineering to build safe, high-quality vehicles.
We are open to training candidates who are eager to learn and grow in mechanical assembly. This position is ideal for entry-level individuals looking to begin a career in vehicle manufacturing or skilled trades.
Success in this role means completing assigned assembly tasks safely, accurately, and in alignment with engineering documentation and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble vehicle structures, components, and subsystems using supplied parts and build documentation
- Perform mechanical and basic electrical installation under engineering guidance
- Assist with component fitment, alignment, and system integration during vehicle builds
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and lifting equipment safely
- Identify build issues and communicate clearly with engineering or supervisors
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment
- Support the development of repeatable assembly processes as production scales
Required Qualifications
- Mechanical aptitude or strong interest in hands-on technical work
- Experience using standard hand and power tools (professional or personal projects)
- Ability to follow written instructions, technical drawings, and direction from engineering staff
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in an active shop environment
- Strong reliability, attention to detail, and commitment to safety
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
- Automotive or vehicle assembly experience
- Trade school, vocational training, or technical certification
- Exposure to fabrication, wiring, or mechanical system installation
