Safety Intern
Title: Safety Intern
Primary Function: Gain exposure to real-world projects, learn how safety regulations and practices are implemented in the field, and develop essential skills in safety management, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration. This internship offers a unique opportunity to bridge academic knowledge with practical application, preparing students for successful careers in construction management through mentorship, professional development, and active participation in innovative project delivery.
Typical Duties:
- Work closely with the company Safety Manager, site supervision, and workers to promote safety culture and adherence to safety regulations.
- Maintain current safety regulation materials, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Toolbox Talks and other safety and health reference materials for file and distribution to Superintendents and all other users.
- Assist with jobsite safety inspections, accident, and incident reports.
- Measure and report to Safety Manager on overall compliance of assigned jobsites with the Miller-Davis Safety Program.
- Verify each Miller-Davis jobsite maintains up to date employee literature, posters, adequate safety equipment, PPE, first aid supplies, and fire prevention equipment.
- Participate in Company and industry sponsored safety programs, meetings and continuing safety education.
- Monitor Subcontractor compliance with Miller-Davis Company safety and insurance requirements.
- Communicate this information to others within the company as necessary.
- Perform any other duties that may from time to time be assigned by the Company.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Pursuing a college Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related experience.
- Proficient computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, PowerPoint).
- Motivation and potential for long-term career progression.
