Fall Construction Co-op

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with on-site project management and coordination of construction activities.
  • Follow construction plans and instructions from supervisors or more experienced workers.
  • Aid in the preparation and maintenance of project documentation, including reports, drawings, and blueprints.
  • Perform material takeoffs and assist in the procurement of construction materials and equipment.
  • Help ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and other legal requirements.
  • Participate in job site safety meetings and contribute to a safe working environment.
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools under supervision, as necessary.
  • Provide support in measuring, cutting, and assembling materials under the guidance of experienced workers.
  • Assist in conducting site surveys and inspections to monitor progress and quality of work.
  • Support project engineers and construction managers in scheduling and planning of project tasks.
  • Facilitate communication between various project stakeholders, including subcontractors, architects, and clients.
  • Contribute to problem-solving and troubleshooting on-site construction issues.
  • Help maintain a clean and organized job site by participating in cleanup and organization efforts.
  • Learn and apply new construction techniques and practices as directed by mentors and supervisors.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the project team and construction operations.

 

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited university or college, pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field
  • Completion of at least one year of relevant coursework 
  • Ability to work full-time hours during the co-op term 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities 
  • Detail-oriented with good organizational skills 
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team 
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced professionals 
  • Physical ability to navigate construction sites safely, including climbing ladders, lifting up to 50 pounds, and standing or walking for extended periods 
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations and practices
