Advocate
Are you passionate about making a difference in the world? Look no further!
The Borgen Project is an international organization that works at the political level to improve living conditions for people impacted by war, famine and poverty.
With 20 years of experience in the advocacy space, The Borgen Project has worked to support the passage of numerous bills that have benefitted close to 500 million people in developing countries.
This is a great entry-level volunteer position for someone looking to advocate for the world's poor. Advocates can operate from anywhere in the U.S.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as an ambassador for the world’s poor. Build awareness of the issues and ways people can help.
- Manage and implement fundraising campaigns. 25 hours of the program is dedicated to fundraising and all we ask is that you are actively engaged in fundraising and use these hours to achieve as much as you can. We appreciate that not everyone will be able to raise $500, so what we are looking for in terms of evaluating your performance is not the total raised, but the effort and commitment that goes into what you do achieve.
- Represent The Borgen Project in your city – attend events and engage people in the cause.
- Contact congressional leaders in support of key poverty-reduction programs.
Qualifications:
- Excellent overall communication skills: oral, written, presentation.
- Ability to self-manage and prioritize assignments.
