Personal Training Intern

Personal Training Intern (Paid)

Part-time

  • 10–20 hrs/week
  • 6–8 weeks
  • $20/hour

Work alongside experienced coaches at bStrong Personal Training to build your skills in both 1-on-1 and group training. You’ll shadow and assist with sessions, learn how to design effective workouts, and gain real experience in member onboarding and engagement.

This is a great opportunity for students or recent grads looking to get hands-on experience in a professional training environment. Many past interns have gone on to become full-time coaches at bStrong!

bStrong Personal Training is a fast-growing fitness company with locations in Bellevue and Redmond. We specialize in small-group personal training focused on results, community, and long-term sustainability.

Our internship is designed for aspiring coaches—especially those studying kinesiology, exercise science, or related fields—who want to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world coaching.

 

Internship Details

  • Start Date: Flexible (available year-round)
  • Duration: 6–8 weeks
  • Hours: 10–20 hours per week
  • Location: In-person at Bellevue and/or Redmond
  • Compensation: $20/hour
  • Supervisor: Head Coach
  • Conversion Opportunity: Many interns have been hired into full-time and part-time coaching roles (higher pay rate)

 

Responsibilities

  • Shadow and assist small-group personal training sessions
  • Learn and assist with programming for different fitness levels
  • Support member onboarding and check-ins
  • Observe and practice technique instruction and correction
  • Gain exposure to member engagement and retention practices
  • (Optional) Learn about the business side—marketing, retention, and sales

 

Learning Objectives

By the end of the internship, you’ll gain experience in:

  • Coaching methodology in a small-group setting
  • Exercise technique instruction and correction
  • Program design for a variety of clients
  • Member engagement and retention
  • Professional development in a team environment

 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Current personal training certification or currently pursuing certification
  • Coursework in kinesiology, exercise science, or a related field (or) prior coaching experience

Preferred:

  • Customer service experience
  • Prior coaching experience (not required)
  • Strong interest in personal training, strength & conditioning, and helping others
