Internship and Organization Description:
As a multispecialty clinic, Rapha Medical Center offers a broad spectrum of services-from urgent care and family medicine to telemedicine, mental health support, pediatric care, and specialized treatment programs-all delivered with a compassionate, attentive, whole-person approach. Interns at Rapha Medical Center will receive comprehensive training and orientation alongside experienced staff and will be provided meaningful, individualized opportunities to serve others-including children and families within our community. Our devoted team will support interns through experiential opportunities that encompass high-quality medical and wellness services across the lifespan. Interns will find a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere where the needs of every patient-especially our youngest-are listened to, valued, and respected.
Duties:
- Observe multidisciplinary care delivery across specialties
- Participate in case discussions and team coordination activities
- Learn healthcare compliance standards (HIPAA, documentation accuracy, patient privacy)
- Prepare and process specialty referrals (e.g., endocrinology, podiatry, neurology, general surgery)
- Enter and update patient information in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Assist with prior authorization documentation and supporting records
- Assist providers with patient intake, vital signs documentation, and chart preparation
- Support care coordination for chronic conditions (e.g., diabetes management, hypertension follow-ups)
- Observe and assist with telehealth visit workflow and patient readiness
- Help organize progress notes, H&Ps, and follow-up plans
Qualifications:
- Interest in healthcare, patient services, or medical administration
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Professional demeanor and commitment to patient confidentiality (HIPAA awareness)
- Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively in a team environment
- Basic computer skills and willingness to learn electronic health record (EHR) systems
For this internship, what level of experience is needed?
- No prior clinical experience required; training will be provided
Internship Learning Objectives:
- Strengthen professional communication skills through patient interaction, appointment coordination, and interdisciplinary teamwork
- Understand healthcare operations such as scheduling systems, basic billing concepts, and clinical compliance standards (HIPAA)
- Build time-management and organizational skills in a fast-paced outpatient care environment

Schedule:
All hours must be completed within the traditional work week (M-F; 8am-5pm). Specific hours can be mutually determined by student and supervisor. This employer offers flexible scheduling.
