Position Description

The UCI School of Education Undergraduate Programs invites interested and qualified undergraduate students to apply for the Education Careers Ambassador position. The Education Careers Ambassador serves as a knowledgeable and approachable student resource for Education Sciences undergraduates who are exploring careers in education and related fields.

The Education Careers Ambassador provides peer-to-peer guidance, shares information about education career pathways (including teaching credentials), and connects students to relevant campus resources. Working closely with School of Education staff, the Ambassador assists students in clarifying career interests, understanding preparation pathways, and identifying next steps toward careers in teaching, educational support roles, and education-adjacent professions.

 

 

Role and Responsibilities

The Education Careers Ambassador supports undergraduate students through the following responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and group peer guidance to Education Sciences majors regarding education-related career pathways and graduate school preparation.
  • Share information about teaching careers (e.g., elementary, secondary, and special education) as well as non-teaching education careers (e.g., educational policy, higher education, youth programs, and nonprofit work).
  • Explain general pathways to teaching credentials, while recognizing the scope and limits of the ambassador role.
  • Assist students in reflecting on interests, skills, and experiences as they relate to education careers.
  • Assist with workshops, panels, and other programming related to education careers.
  • Collaborate with School of Education staff and campus partners (e.g., Division of Career Pathways) on student-facing initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain peer-facing resources such as handouts, guides, and presentations on education career pathways
  • Refer students to campus resources when needed
  • Share accurate and up-to-date information regarding education career preparation and campus resources

 

 

Eligibility

  • Must be a current UCI undergraduate student in good academic standing
  • Must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.75 or above during duration of employment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact professionally with students, staff, and faculty
  • Interest in education careers, teaching pathways, advising, or student support
  • Someone who takes initiative and can work both independently and as a team member
  • Someone who is responsible, reliable and dependable


 

 

 

Time Commitment

  • This is a 1-year commitment (Spring 2026- Spring 2027), approximately 8-10 hours per week. 

 

 

Compensation

  • $16.90 per hour 
  • Work-study preferred
