Position Summary
The Dover Area School District is seeking two dynamic and innovative Business Education Teachers at Dover Area High School for the 2026–2027 school year. The Business Education Teacher prepares students with real-world skills in personal finance, business operations, entrepreneurship, and career readiness. The successful candidate will create a classroom environment that connects academic content to practical life and workforce applications while supporting students in developing employability and technology skills essential for postsecondary success.
This position includes collaboration with career pathways, student organizations, and community partners to provide students with authentic learning experiences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
- Plan and deliver engaging instruction aligned to Pennsylvania Academic Standards and District curriculum
- Teach courses such as personal finance, accounting, entrepreneurship, business management, career readiness, and business technology applications
- Integrate real-world problem solving, project-based learning, and applied skill development
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Utilize instructional technology and business software applications
Career & Workforce Preparation
- Prepare students for postsecondary pathways including college, career, and industry credentials
- Integrate employability skills including communication, teamwork, professionalism, and financial literacy
- Facilitate career exploration and workplace readiness activities (resumes, interviewing, professional communication)
- Collaborate with school counselors and administration to support student career planning
Technology & Applied Learning
- Teach business and workplace technology applications (e.g., spreadsheets, presentations, databases, digital collaboration tools)
- Incorporate current business practices, digital citizenship, and ethical technology use
- Support students in completing authentic business projects and simulations
Assessment & Professional Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess student progress using a variety of assessment strategies
- Maintain accurate records, grades, and documentation
- Communicate regularly with students, families, and staff
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and District initiatives
Qualifications
- Valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certification in Business, Computer and Information Technology, or Marketing (7–12), OR
- Eligibility to obtain Pennsylvania Career and Technical Instructional certification (district will support certification pathway)
Terms of Employment
Full-time, 190-day position
Salary and benefits per the Dover Area Education Association Agreement
Start Date: August 2026
