Business Development Engineering Intern
We are currently in search of a Business Development Engineering Intern to join our Research and Development department of the Marquardt Group in our location Rochester Hills (USA). The Business Development Intern will work ideally 24-40 hours per week depending on the student's school schedule. Position will be in-person 3 days per week.
The Business Development Intern will support both Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) and Innovation initiatives at our Rochester Hills, MI location. This role provides hands-on experience in product cost optimization, project management, market research, supply chain analysis and emerging technology evaluation within a global organization.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Conduct supplier and cost benchmarking to support VA/VE initiatives
- Support VA/VE workshops and idea generation activities
- Evaluate VA/VE ideas from business and technical perspectives (cost, feasibility, impact)
- Maintain VA/VE tracking databases and prepare monthly performance reports
- Perform technology scouting and market research for targeted industries and applications
- Support business acquisition activities and customer presentation materials
- Capture innovation ideas and assist with concept documentation
- Coordinate with internal teams to track project progress and action items
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or related field
- Strong analytical, research, and structure problem solving skills
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint (basic cost modeling and presentations)
- Interest in manufacturing, product development, and innovation strategy
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Travel:
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally, mostly local, as needed required 5%.
