Anthropology Peer Advisor
On-Campus ACA Variable Position US Work Authorization is Required.
Position Description:
The Anthropology Department is seeking a Peer Advisor for the 2026-2027 academic year. This position is open to Anthropology majors who have excelled in their coursework, have a strong understanding of Anthropological concepts, and possess the interpersonal skills necessary to assist fellow students. The role requires reliability, responsibility, and maturity. Previous Peer Advisors (2025-2026) are eligible to reapply but may not be selected if more suitable candidates are available.
Job Tasks:
- Familiarize with Program Requirements for Graduation (Green Sheets).
- Maintain confidentiality of student information.
- Promote the Anthropology program, including travel for outreach.
- Plan and coordinate activities for Day on the Quad, Career Day, Major’s Fair, and Diversity Week.
- Assist with questions about program requirements, field schools, careers, professor office hours, and the benefits of being an Anthropology major.
- Know campus resources (e.g., Access and Diversity, Academic Success Center).
- Support students by walking them to professors or Resource Centers.
- Stay informed about scholarship opportunities.
- Monitor Anthropology Museum events and activities.
- Create content for USU Anthropology social media.
Minimum Requirements:
- Open to Anthropology majors with a GPA of 3.0 or above. Anthropology minors may be considered, but preference is given to majors.
- Must be a Junior or higher with a background in most intro-level Anthropology courses.
- Time commitment: 10 hours per week.
- Attend a half-day workshop in late August and monthly training seminars in the fall.
- Participate in occasional department, college, or university training sessions.
