Intern - Project OPS & Assessment

Summer Internship opportunities are available to students only. To be eligible for a summer internship, students must be graduating after August 7, 2026 or continuing their education.

The Summer Internship begins on May 18, 2026  and ends on August 7, 2026.
 

 

Internship Description:
The intern will work under the supervision of experienced scientists and engineers and will have a hands-on role in with POA tasks related to Northern Everglades Restoration activities, dispersed water management, and monitoring programs. The intern's workload will provide exposure to both technical and policy-related aspects of the EEP Bureau that help in the mission to protect and restore the Northern Everglades.
 

 

Tasks include: optimizing and developing dashboards and automated reports, summarizing hydrologic and water quality data, drafting standard operating procedures, developing scripts and processes for project analysis, data management, and reporting, support updating stage-storage relationships, co-authoring Chapter 8 SFER and appendices, contributing to basin assessments, performing data management, summaries and statistics for the water quality monitoring network, reviewing and editing technical reports, performing field work and helicopter reconnaissance to water quality monitoring sites and projects.

 


Education/Experience Guide:Achieved classification as a college level Junior or above in a related degree program at a college or university accredited by a recognized national or regional accreditation association. Must have coursework relevant to the position being accepted and no experience is required. The student must have a 3.0 average or higher and maintain an average grade of B or above in all major fields of study.
  
Undergraduate level interns will be paid $17/hour and work a maximum of 32 hours per week for a maximum internship duration of 4 months.

Graduate and Doctoral level interns will be paid $19/hour and work a maximum of 32 hours per week for a maximum  internship duration of 4 months.

License(s) / Certification(s): 
A valid State of Florida Driver’s License is not required.  

No professional licensure is required for this position.

Interns are not authorized to drive District vehicles, operate District boats, ATVs, forklifts, or any heavy equipment.
