Music Teacher - Lucy School
Lucy School is seeking a forward-thinking, committed educational professional to join our faculty as a member of our Arts Team. Lucy School strives to provide a student-centered, arts-enriched program that will stimulate, nurture, and enhance children's intellectual, emotional, physical, social, aesthetic, and creative development from ages three through eighth grade. Our arts program engages students in the artistic process, providing opportunities for students to make connections and express understanding across a variety of content areas and disciplines.
*Part-time applications for PreK-2nd grade or 3rd-8th grade would also be considered.
Responsibilities

Create a community of learners that promotes student ownership of learning and nurtures students’ intellectual, physical, creative, aesthetic, social, and emotional development. -
Establish a predictable, safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment in which each student has a positive, nurturing relationship with caring adults and peers. -
Plan and provide daily instruction for preschool through 8th grade, including clear learning outcomes, well-designed lessons, and high-quality assessments that align with curriculum and standards and meet the students' individual needs, interests, and abilities. -
Incorporate creative, hands-on learning experiences through exposure to a variety of materials and media to spark curiosity and broaden students’ interests, fostering collaboration and student ingenuity that requires integration and application of knowledge and skills across disciplines. -
Provide a classroom environment that is organized, visually appealing, and free from clutter, with displays centered on documentation of student learning. -
Collaborate with school-based staff in staff meetings, planning meetings, team meetings, and professional learning designed to enhance students' learning experience and increase student engagement. -
Accurately complete all administrative and non-academic duties (weekly communication, newsletters, student progress reports, and other duties as assigned). -
Participate as a member of the production team for after-school rehearsals and performances. -
Plan and prepare students for performance and presentation opportunities.
Required Education, Training, and Experience

Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in early childhood, elementary and middle school education, or related arts field from a four-year college or university required -
Master's degree in education or related arts field and teacher certification preferred -
Teaching experience with early childhood, elementary, and middle school students -
Experience in developing, writing, and implementing curricula consistent with the school’s educational goals and objectives. -
Experience with arts integration/STEAM/project learning/process-based arts
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Strong understanding of National Arts Standards/Maryland State Arts Standards and skills in a music-related discipline as they relate to students in preschool through eighth grade -
Thorough understanding of child development as it relates to scope and sequence and development of student skills in a music-related discipline, classroom management, best practices, and theories of education -
Strong vision and course for the program and ability to work with a wide variety of people to ensure the success of programming -
Knowledge of pedagogy, methodology, strategies, and approaches for teaching a music-related discipline to children, as well as literacy, math, and content area knowledge
