Living History Youth Summer Institute
Are you a high school or college student aged 16 to 21 who is passionate about history, culture, and theater? Now entering its fifth year, The Living History Youth Summer Institute brings history to life. This six-week paid program is designed for young people curious about exploring cultural heritage and museum careers. By understanding and wearing 18th-century clothing, you will learn about the complex stories and diverse people who shaped the Revolutionary era.
Learn the importance of costumed interpretation as you encounter the experiences of people of African descent during the Revolutionary era. Participants will embark on engaging field trips and activities led by African American interpreters to gain valuable insights and deepen their understanding.
The Museum will guide participants in researching and sharing stories of enslaved and free individuals from Revolutionary America. Students will also attend workshops on museum education, curation, and community outreach, and participate in hands-on crafts and interpretive planning.
This program provides transportation assistance.
