Marketing & Communications Intern

Are you ready to gain hands-on experience with an industry-leading real estate company? Essex Property Trust, an S&P 500 real estate investment trust (REIT), invites highly motivated college students to join our 8-week, paid summer internship program in Marketing & Communications. This is your chance to work on meaningful projects that impact real-world business decisions while developing valuable skills in the dynamic world of real estate.

 

Essex is looking to bring on two interns, each with a distinct area of focus as outlined below. This is a full-time internship, Monday through Friday, with a pay rate of $26.00 per hour.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

As an intern with Marketing & Communications, you’ll collaborate with multiple departments to gain a comprehensive understanding of how marketing functions within a top-tier real estate company.

 

The Communications/Community Marketing Intern will have the opportunity to:

  • Optimize Online Presence – Support Google Business Profile enhancements, ensuring listings are accurate, complete, and aligned with brand standards.
  • Support Social Media Engagement – Assist with copywriting and content coordination to highlight our communities and resident experience.
  • Enhance Marketing Collateral – Contribute to property map and community marketing projects, ensuring our marketing materials are visually appealing and up to date.

 

The Digital Marketing/Multimedia Intern will have the opportunity to:

  • Evaluate Digital Performance – Audit advertising and lead generation efforts to identify opportunities for improved reach and engagement.
  • Enhance Website Experience - Update website content to enhance user experience and support SEO efforts.
  • Engage in Multimedia Production – Get hands-on experience with video, photography, and virtual tour projects to showcase our properties in the best light.

 

Each internship position may provide additional support on various initiatives as they arise, gaining a well-rounded understanding of real estate marketing.

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Education – You must be enrolled in a four-year accredited undergraduate program, majoring in Marketing, Communications, or a related field. Rising juniors (Class of 2028) and seniors (Class of 2027) are encouraged to apply.
  • Skills & Attributes – Strong communication, organizational, and multi-tasking skills are a must! You should be detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal abilities.
  • Work Environment – This is a hybrid role, requiring you to be in our Irvine office four days a week (Monday – Thursday).
