Transportation Data Intern
The Transportation Data Research Intern provides technical and analytical support to the FDOT Research Center. This position focuses on the gathering , organizing, analyzing, and reporting data related to FDOT-funded transportation research projects.
The intern works closely with the Research and Innovation Director and Research Center team to evaluate project outcomes, program performance, ensure data quality within department databases and translate them into insights that support decision making and continuous improvement.
This role offers hands-on experience in transportation research, data analytics, and performance measurement within a large public infrastructure organization. It is well suited for students interested in civil engineering, transportation, data science GIS or related fields.
Key responsibilities include:
• Data Gathering and Analysis: Identify, extract, and clean relevant data from FDOT research reports and databases.
• Database Maintenance and Modernization: Provide update and quality assurance of the Research Center’s project tracking and management systems, including preparation of data for dashboards and performance reporting.
• Data Visualization and Reporting: Create charts, tables, maps, and summary reports to communicate research results and performance metrics clearly and effectively.
• Research and Technical Support: Provide general administrative and technical support for research-related meetings and presentations, as well as program documentation.
