Supply Chain Intern

Summary:

Pacific Seafood is seeking a motivated Air Freight Intern to play a key role in analyzing the company’s air freight activity across all divisions. This includes investigating current processes, evaluating opportunities to consolidate shipments under Pacific Group Transport (PGT), and developing a comprehensive analysis of potential cost savings. This position offers hands-on experience in logistics, supply chain optimization, and strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities

Air Freight Analysis & Consolidation:

  • Investigate total air freight activity across all divisions.
  • Evaluate opportunities to consolidate shipments under PGT.
  • Prepare detailed analysis on potential cost savings from consolidation.

Inventory Management: Transportation of Products:

  • Create quotations for individual shipments, including price estimates and carrier selection.
  • Identify transactions requiring special handling and recommend process improvements.
  • Resolve client concerns proactively and monitor team performance against company standards.
  • Process bills of lading and provide clear shipment instructions.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts and terms to optimize shipping costs.

Compliance & Systems:

  • Review and monitor export/import documentation and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure adherence to domestic and international shipping regulations.
  • Communicate regulatory changes to internal teams and external partners.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and support data migration.

Leadership & Continuous Improvement:

  • Promote The Pacific Group Diamond Philosophy (Quality, Teamwork, Productivity, and Excellence).
  • Contribute to creating a growth-oriented environment for team members.
  • Develop best practices for air freight management and maintain accurate records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring to Pacific Seafood

Required:

  • Actively pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree, with a graduation date no later than June of 2026, in:
    • Business
    • Supply Chain Management
    • Logistics
    • Or a closely related field
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Basic PC knowledge.

Preferred:

  • Leadership and people management experience.
  • Strong business/financial acumen.
  • Prior experience in project management, strategic planning, and vendor management.
  • Familiarity with seafood or agricultural product markets.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
