Junior Civil Engineer

The city of Marlborough’s DPW–Engineering Division is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Junior Civil Engineer to support municipal public works and infrastructure projects.

This position involves civil engineering design and plan preparation for public works projects, review of plans for permitting, and surveying for property lines, construction layout, and city asset data collection. Responsibilities also include preparing construction cost estimates, performing plan take-offs, verifying quantities for project pay requisitions, and assisting with construction project scheduling. The Junior Civil Engineer provides engineering support to other DPW divisions and city departments, assists with management of the Road Opening Permit Program, performs construction inspection services, and conducts plan and data research. Additional duties include maintaining electronic and paper engineering files, training subordinate personnel, assisting with DPW snow and ice operations using non-CDL vehicles and equipment, and performing other related duties as required.

Bachelor of science in civil engineering or a related field is preferred, with a minimum of two years of field and office experience in civil engineering and/or land surveying and possess a valid Massachusetts motor vehicle operator’s license.

Hiring Rate: $36.69/hr. along with full benefits package including health and dental insurance, paid time off, holidays, pension, and other union benefits.
