Commercial Real Estate Intern

Position Overview

SVN Commercial Advisory Group is seeking 4 motivated students for a comprehensive 7-week commercial real estate internship in Sarasota, FL. This is not a traditional internship of coffee runs and busywork—it's an intensive, hands-on program where you'll work with real clients, analyze actual properties, and contribute meaningfully to our business operations. You'll master industry-standard tools (CoStar, Crexi, SunBiz), integrate AI technology to create competitive advantages, and develop the analytical skills that distinguish top commercial real estate professionals. This program is designed to give you a genuine competitive edge in the CRE industry.

Position Duties/Responsibilities

  • Master commercial real estate research platforms including CoStar, Crexi, and SunBiz to conduct property searches, ownership analysis, and market research
  • Build comprehensive property lists, owner databases, and buyer profiles for real client requests and business development initiatives
  • Perform financial analysis and underwriting including comparable sales analysis, cap rate calculations, and value-add opportunity identification
  • Conduct competitive market intelligence including broker analysis, pricing strategy evaluation, and market trend identification
  • Integrate AI tools and technologies to accelerate research workflows and create competitive advantages in a traditional market
  • Create professional marketing content, market reports, and investment summaries demonstrating market expertise
  • Complete an individual Buy Box competition project requiring independent property research, financial analysis, and formal presentation of recommendations
  • Contribute to actual SVN business operations through assigned projects including database building, market research, and client deliverables
  • Develop and present a capstone value-add proposal identifying business opportunities or process improvements for SVN

Position Requirements

Program Structure:

  • Dates: May 19 - July 3, 2025 (7 weeks)
  • Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM (20 hours per week)
  • Memorial Day: Monday, May 26 off
  • Location: SVN Commercial Advisory Group, Sarasota, FL
  • Dress Code: Business casual; professional attire for client meetings and presentations
  • Commitment: Must be available for the entire 7-week period with consistent Monday-Thursday attendance

Position Qualifications

Academic Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student
  • Preferred majors: Finance, Real Estate, Business Administration, Economics, or related fields
  • Minimum sophomore standing (30+ credit hours completed) preferred

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Interest in commercial real estate, investment analysis, or business development
  • Willingness to learn new technology platforms and AI tools
  • Professional maturity and business acumen

Position Remuneration

Base Compensation:

  • $15 per hour for 20 hours per week (approximately $2,100 total for 7 weeks)

Performance Bonuses:

  • Top performer: $1,000 bonus
  • Second place: $500 bonus
  • Third place: $250 bonus
  • Bonuses awarded based on work quality, initiative, business impact, Buy Box project performance, and value-add proposal innovation
