About the Internship

Lutheran Church Extension Fund provides an experiential learning opportunity for college students interested in working with a nonprofit, faith-based financial institution. Working in the Human Resources area of LCEF will provide you with hands-on experience in various aspects of the employee lifecycle. These include but are not limited to recruitment, onboarding, employment law, training & development, compliance, payroll and benefits administration.

This full-time paid internship will take place from Monday, June 1st through Friday, July 31st at the LCEF national office located in Sunset Hills, Missouri. Our program is designed for mentorship and professional development, including additional learning in areas like business etiquette, communication and leadership.

What You’ll Do

  • Support daily HR operations and maintain accurate employee records
  • Assist with recruitment, including job postings, resume screening, and interview scheduling
  • Participate in meetings and observe candidate interview conversations
  • Help coordinate onboarding and orientation for new hires
  • Respond to basic employee inquiries and support employee engagement activities
  • Assist with training coordination and tracking employee development
  • Compile HR data and reports to support HR projects and decision-making
  • Assist with payroll, time-tracking, and benefits documentation

What We’re Looking For

  • Full-time college student, preferably in Sophomore or Junior year
  • Completed coursework toward a bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or other related fields
  • Exercises discretion and judgment in confidential matters
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills
  • Experienced Microsoft Office user (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Solid organizational and time management skills
