Financial Services & Accounting Intern
About the Position:
- This posting will be used to fill two (2) vacancies.
- The candidate should be able to work onsite 32 hours per week between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday from June 1, 2026, through July 30, 2026.
- Depending on available work projects and activities, the internship could be extended an additional two weeks until August 13, 2026
- This position may count towards internship credit with your university. You will need to work with your university to determine if this position will qualify as an internship.
The Summer Intern Program offers students comprehensive exposure to financial services and accounting through diverse projects within the organization’s dedicated team. Participants will receive targeted support and training, enabling them to make a meaningful impact at SBI and for its stakeholders. This program provides an excellent opportunity to expand your professional network, connect with mentors, and interact with accounting professionals in the financial community. By the end of the program, students will gain a deeper understanding of SBI’s mission and financial operations, along with valuable experience that will enhance their resumes.
The student in this internship will be assigned to the Financial Services and Accounting team at the beginning of the program and will remain with that team for the entire duration of their internship. This stable team structure allows students to build meaningful relationships with colleagues and mentors, enhancing their collaborative skills and providing valuable networking opportunities. Additionally, students will have the chance to learn from other teams within SBI, including areas such as ESG and Stewardship, Legal and Policy, Performance and Risk, and the Participant Directed Investment Program.
Responsibilities:
- Attend meetings with financial services staff and SBI’s custodial bank.
- Update and create new reports and analyses for the team.
- Assist with the completion of daily, monthly, and quarterly transactions.
- Assist with the daily reconciliation of internally managed funds.
- Assist with the monthly reconciliation of public and private market investment managers.
- Assist with the investment orders and settlement reconciliation of internally managed funds.
- Draft and complete ad-hoc assignments as determined by the team's needs and requirements at that time.
- Participate in broader SBI 2026 Summer Analyst Program projects.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

- Undergraduate student who is currently a sophomore or junior in an accounting-related field.
- Have a strong work ethic, personal and professional integrity, and be able to adapt to new encounters in a dynamic environment while handling multiple projects.
- Be able to work individually and to collaborate in a team environment, remaining detail-oriented and client-focused.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to prepare reports, create documents, and deliver presentations.
The candidate must be currently enrolled in a higher education institution and actively pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree. If you are enrolled at a credit-granting institution, you must carry at least six semester credits; if enrolled at a non-credit-granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, you must be taking two or more classes per semester. You will be asked to complete an Educational Verification form prior to appointment.
Preferred Qualifications
- A student with an interest in public service.
- A student with a demonstrated interest in investment accounting-related topics.
