JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Purpose:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting the Director of Finance with the full cycle month end close process in compliance with US GAAP.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all expenses are coded to the correct department, class and segment according to procedures.
- Prepare and issue the weekly report with key financial information and key operating indicators to management.
- Post applicable bank transactions daily in NetSuite.
- Review weekly employee travel expenses to ensure proper coding and compliance with policies and approve NetSuite expense report.
- Prepare general ledger journal entries for the month end close.
- Verify that all freight and duty bills for items received are recorded in NetSuite.
- Approve customer return authorizations for credit.
- Complete mid-month bank account matching process.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts including cash, prepaid expenses, other current assets, fixed assets, etc.
- Run budget versus actual income statement reports from NetSuite and distribute to the department managers.
- Prepare the monthly financial package distributed to the CEO and the owners.
- Post healthcare bills with proper employee coding.
- Assist with the accounts receivable process including escalated collection activities, refunding webstore orders, posting transactions related to Amazon remittances, reviewing the accounts receivable aging, calculating the allowance for doubtful accounts, etc.
- Assist with the accounts payable process including reviewing the weekly aging, approving payments in the bank account, escalated vendor matters, etc.
- Assist the Director of Finance with annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting activities.
- Fulfill requests for the annual external financial audit.
- Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting (required).
- At least three years of corporate accounting experience (required).
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently, multi-task and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills with peers, customers, and vendors
- Proficiency in accounting ERP system, NetSuite preferred.
- Strong Microsoft skills including formulas and pivot tables in Microsoft Excel.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
This position is a combination of remote and in-office work environment, preferably Monday and Friday remote and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in-office.
Physical Demands:
The essential functions of this job require the ability to: stand, walk, and sit; light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time, FLSA exempt position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week during standard business hours. Additional work outside of standard business hours is also required.
