Junior Writer Editorial Fellow

COLOR THEORY Magazine — an independent digital fashion and art publication exploring style through identity, history, and visual storytelling — is seeking a Junior Writer / Editorial Fellow to support the magazine’s editorial flow through research, writing, and digital storytelling.

Led by Kaila Symone, Wardrobe Stylist and Editor-in-Chief, COLOR THEORY provides students and emerging writers hands-on experience inside a working editorial environment. Writers contribute to real issues, learn how stories are developed from concept to publication, and build portfolio-ready clips rooted in fashion, culture, and critical thought.

This role begins as an unpaid editorial fellowship; contributors become eligible for paid assignments after four (4) published articles. Ideal for a student interested in writing, journalism, fashion studies, or media.

Role Overview
This role includes:
Writing & Editorial Contributions
• Draft shorter articles, trend stories, think-pieces, and cultural spotlights
• Contribute digital-friendly editorial content for web and social media
• Support the magazine’s voice through thoughtful, well-researched writing
 

Research & Editorial Support
• Assist with research, transcription, and fact-checking
• Help gather references, quotes, and cultural context for longer features
• Support editors in maintaining accuracy and editorial integrity
 

Digital & Social Storytelling
• Adapt written content for online and social platforms
• Collaborate with the Social Media Manager to extend stories beyond the page
• Learn how editorial writing translates across formats and audiences
 

Qualifications
• Current student or recent graduate in journalism, English, fashion studies, communications, cultural studies, or related fields
• Strong writing skills and interest in fashion, culture, and storytelling
• Ability to research topics and synthesize information clearly
• Curiosity about publishing, media, and creative collaboration
 

Experience through coursework, student publications, blogs, or personal writing projects is welcome.
