JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary / Objective

Magellan International School (MIS) in Austin, Texas, is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Summer Camp Counselors for June and July 2026, with pre-camp training and orientation held in May. MIS summer camps bring everything together in one convenient place: STEM, academic enrichment, creative arts, sports, and hands-on fun. It is for students from early childhood through 5th grade. Summer Camp Counselors play a vital role in creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment where children can learn, explore, and grow.


Magellan Signature Camps

As a Summer Camp Counselor at Camp Everything, you may work in one of our exciting camp locations:

  • Camp Gatorcitos - Open only to MIS Preschool Students at West Anderson Campus.
  • Camp NaviGators - Open to all rising 1st to 5th grade students at Bull Creek Campus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively supervise and monitor students to ensure their safety at all times.
  • Maintain a physically and emotionally safe, healthy, and supportive environment.
  • Foster a culturally inclusive classroom that respects and celebrates diverse backgrounds.
  • Supervise play activities, games, sports, and creative projects.
  • Follow daily schedules, routines, curriculum plans, and activity guidelines.
  • Enforce school safety and security policies for students and visitors.
  • Maintain accurate student check-in and check-out records.
  • Communicate effectively with students, team members, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Experience working with children
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education and/or experience in childhood development or a related field
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

Availability Expectations

Programs run Monday through Friday between 7:45 AM and 6:00 PM. Counselors will be assigned a weekly schedule, with daily shifts that may vary within program hours. Counselors must have flexible availability and maintain reliable attendance throughout the summer season.

Work Environment

This position operates in both indoor and outdoor settings, including classrooms, playgrounds, and activity spaces. Noise levels may vary from moderate to high during active learning, recess, and group activities. The role requires physical activity, including standing, bending, lifting, stooping, and actively engaging with children throughout the day.


Additional Eligibility Qualifications

A criminal history background check will be required for the finalist(s) under consideration for this position. If hired, you will be required to complete the federal Employment Eligibility Verification form, I-9, and present acceptable and original documents to prove your identity and authorization to work in the United States.
