Social Media Intern
Job Title: Social Media Marketing Intern
Location: In-person + remote hybrid (must be able to visit restaurant locations in MA or NH for content capture)
Position Summary
The Friendly Toast is seeking a creative and motivated Social Media Marketing Intern to support our Director of Marketing by creating and publishing engaging content across multiple platforms. This role is ideal for someone who loves storytelling, understands social trends, and is excited to create both video and static content that builds brand awareness and drives engagement.
This internship is 20 hours per week and requires the ability to visit at least one of The Friendly Toast’s 14 New England locations in person weekly to capture photo and video content.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation & Production
- Create engaging short-form video content (Reels/TikTok) and static social posts aligned with brand voice and visual identity
- Capture content in-person at The Friendly Toast locations (food, drinks, staff moments, behind-the-scenes, guest vibes, etc.)
- Basic video editing (cuts, captions, trending audio, transitions) and graphic creation
Content Planning
- Build monthly social media content calendars for review and approval by the Director of Marketing
- Stay up to date on trends across Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms and suggest content ideas accordingly
Publishing & Scheduling
- Publish and schedule daily posts across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and LinkedIn
- Use scheduling tools (ex: Meta Business Suite) to organize and execute posting
- Ensure posts are published on time and follow brand standards
Copywriting & Brand Voice
- Write strong captions with clear brand voice, engaging hooks, and calls-to-action
- Maintain a professional tone where needed (especially for LinkedIn) while keeping the brand’s personality intact
Reporting & Data Analytics
- Track and report on social media performance across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and LinkedIn
- Monitor key metrics including reach, impressions, engagement rate, follower growth, video views, and saves/shares
- Compile monthly performance summaries and highlight top-performing posts, trends, and content opportunities
- Use platform insights and/or scheduling tools to evaluate what content is resonating and recommend adjustments
- Support the Director of Marketing with data-driven recommendations to improve content strategy, posting cadence, and audience engagement
Professionalism & Collaboration
- Communicate clearly with the Director of Marketing and internal team
- Maintain a professional demeanor when filming on-site and interacting with team members
- Be organized, deadline-driven, and open to feedback
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program related to Marketing, Communications, Media, or similar
- Strong interest in social media marketing, content creation, and restaurant/hospitality brands
- Experience creating content for Instagram and TikTok (personal or professional)
- Comfortable filming and editing short-form video content
- Strong writing skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work 20 hours per week consistently
- Must be able to travel in-person to The Friendly Toast locations for content capture
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with Canva, CapCut, Meta Business Suite, or similar tools
- Experience using social scheduling platforms
- Basic understanding of analytics and performance reporting
- Photo and video experience
