Supplier Quality Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Supplier Quality Specialist will work collaboratively with key stakeholders to perform new supplier and new raw material evaluations for the supplier approval process. This position has the ultimate responsibility in working with the internal teams, suppliers and customers in maintaining the supplier quality management database, an approved supplier database and raw ingredient risk analysis results along with approving technical food safety documents.

                                                                                                
Technical skills/Experience:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / JOB DUTIES

  • Work collaboratively with the internal teams, suppliers and customers to gather technical documents / info. for the supplier approval process.
  • Perform new supplier and/or raw material (ingredient and packaging) evaluation and send approval recommendations to Sr. Supplier Quality Manager or Director of Food Safety & Hygiene.
  • Maintain supplier quality management database including technical documents, approved supplier database, raw ingredient risk analysis results, etc.
  • Special assignments / projects as assigned by Sr. Supplier Quality Manager or Director of Food Safety & Hygiene.
  • Serve as the raw material technical liaison for the internal teams, suppliers and customers.

Minimum Qualifications (Must have)

  1. BS degree in food science/related field or relevant work experience.
  2. 3 - 5 years of FDA and/or USDA food / beverage manufacturing QA & QC experience.
  3. 3 - 5 years of working knowledge of HACCP / Food Safety Plan and pre-requisite programs such as raw material controls, cGMP, process / production controls, pest control, sanitation and maintenance.
  4. Basic understanding of food ingredients and packaging.
  5. Able to read / understand technical documents such as audit reports, HACCP plans, CoAs, specification sheets, and microbiological testing data.
  6. HACCP certified or equivalent.
  7. Internal GMP/food safety audit experience. 
  8. Proficient in MS Office programs 
  9. Database management experience. 
  10. Able to travel up to 5% as needed.

 

 Experience / Skills / Certifications

  1. FSMA Preventive Controls for Human Food / PCQI certified.
  2. Experienced in auditing and qualifying suppliers.
  3. Familiar with GFSI based food safety certification and standards.
