Director of Nutrition Services

The Sun Prairie Area School District is looking for an equity-focused administrator to become the Director of Nutrition Services in the growing community of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. Our Equity Framework drives our staff and school community in ensuring we have an equitable and inclusive environment at each of our elementary and secondary schools for all stakeholders. 

The Director of School Nutrition, reporting to the Assistant Superintendent for Operations, will oversee all aspects of the district's Child Nutrition Program (CNP) and will serve as the Authorized Representative on all correspondence and contracts for the program. The job functions include administering, planning, directing, assessing, implementing, and evaluating the program in order to meet the nutritional and educational needs of children, as they relate to the CNP.  The school nutrition director shall partner with others in the school district and community to solicit support for the development of a sound nutrition assistance food program while following federal, state, and local guidelines.  The CNP is to provide an environment that supports healthy food habits while maintaining program integrity and customer satisfaction.

The Director of Nutrition Services would collaboratively support our 4K programs, nine Elementary Schools, three 6th-8th grade Middle Schools, one Alternative High School, and two comprehensive 9th-12th grade High Schools.

The Sun Prairie community has been very supportive of the school district. The Sun Prairie community passed a referendum in the Spring of 2019 to build Sun Prairie West High School (opened in the fall of 2023), a state-of-the-art athletic stadium, and renovate our current upper middle school into a traditional middle school, professional learning center, and employee wellness clinic for our District. The community also passed an operating referendum in 2024. These improvements demonstrate the commitment to invest in the future of our students, families, staff, and community. 

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from a four year college or university in food and nutrition, foodservice management, dietetics, family and consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts, business administration, or related field with at least 5 years' experience in food service in a commercial or institutional setting and at least 3 years' experience at the management or administrative level.

DESIRED CERTIFICATIONS:

  • RDN or RD certification.
  • Ability to obtain a School Nutrition Specialist Certification with the School Nutrition
  • Association � Nationwide exam covering all aspects of Child Nutrition Programs,
  • Possess a level three (III) certification by the School Nutrition Association. Required course work and CEU's per year to ensure program knowledge in administering programs.
  • Food Handler's Certificate.
  • Demonstrated alignment toDistrict Vision and Core Valuesand District Equity Framework

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Multilingual with a preference for fluency in Spanish and/or Hmong
